Having a baby changes your life. From the minute the baby is conceived, there is another life intertwined with yours. It can be an exciting time, but also a very stressful time.

From choosing the right doctor, finding the right place to birth your baby, getting information on labour, birth, breastfeeding etc, new parents are frequently inundated with information. Making an informed choice can become very hard in the face of conflicting and confusing information.

Birth today is often more a medical event than the wondrous life event that it should be. BirthRight strongly believes that every mother and baby deserves a healthy, happy and serene pregnancy and a memorable, safe, drug-free birth experience. It respects the beauty and normality of drug-free natural labours and births and believes that all babies deserve a gentle introduction to the world.

It offers group and private prenatal classes to prepare expectant parents for the journey ahead. The Natural Birth, Gentle Birth classes will address the many issues and concerns parents have during pregnancy and to prepare them for labour, birth, breastfeeding and parenting.

Parents who have birthed before can also choose to attend the Birthing Again refresher classes, specially tailored to meet the needs of second-time parents. Couples who are very early in pregnancy may wish to take The Early Pregnancy class. BirthRight also provides other consulting services eg in birth plan consultations and labour support.

Accredited Childbirth Educator Pat Chong facilitates BirthRight prenatal classes. Pat holds a Graduate Diploma in Childbirth Education from Birth International, Australia and is the first Singaporean to graduate with this Australian government-accredited qualification in the field of childbirth education. She is also the mother of five, an active voice in the local parenting forum Asia Parents and a strong vocal advocate of breastfeeding and natural birth in Singapore. Over the years, she has worked with parents, doctors, lactation consultants, breastfeeding counselors and breastfeeding support organizations here in Singapore, conducting workshops and giving talks on birth and breastfeeding.
